Product summary
SnapNews is a free iOS app that allows you to find a New York Times article online with a scanned image of its print counterpart. It uses optical character recognition to extract text from an image. It then uses this text to search for articles using The New York Times API.
Known issues
Single line headlines can be difficult to crop. Capture the headline in landscape orientation to capture and crop long headlines.
Scans are taken automatically. When the camera is opened, Apple forces the app to automatically take a photo once text is detected. To turn this off, press Auto in the top right corner so that it turns to Manual. This will allow you to scan a headline by pressing the circle button when you are ready.
Privacy
SnapNews does not require a sign in and therefore stores little to no information about you.
